Well...this is a good sign for sunday. Just one training session to go tonight, 1.5k swim planned then let's go Sunday. It's been a good taper week. Think the intensity minutes will be quadrupled on sunday though π€£π€£

Today was a lesson in marginal gains and small progressive steps. First lake swim in a month putting my swimming lessons into practice. And...... it looks like it's paying off, 6 laps of a lake I
previously had only been able to do 3 in and looks like I'm on for inside an hr for my 1.9km half IRONMAN swim. Game on.
What is realised I'm able to do this, but many small children aren't as they fight with long term Renal issues. I'm hoping you will support me as we strive towards the goal of raising money for Bristol Children's Hospital.

Today was a tough 86km ride with 13 climbs.
Whilst riding I listened to the audio book The Story of a Heart.
It's so worth a read, illustrating the amazing work of NHS and the care of patients.
Please support my challenge by donating towards the amazing work at Bristol Children's Hospital.

Hereβs where your donation will go:
β’ βΒ£25 could buy a set of floor playmats or sensory lights to help a child play and feel like a normal children, even when they're in the hospital.
β’ βΒ£50 could buy a comfy chair for a parent, so they can sit next to their child's bed during a long difficult treatment or overnight stays, and feel at home.
β’ βΒ£250 could provide an iPad, a vital tool that helps older children stay connected to their education, friends, and sense of normalcy.
β’ βΒ£15,000 will contribute directly towards a new dialysis machine, a piece of life-saving equipment that gives a child the chance to thrive.
βHelp us reach our Β£15,000 goal. Donate today and change a life forever.
However, why not help us exceed the target and fund a machine completely right now: Help us get to Β£30,000!
βIf we exceed our initial goal, we can do even more. Reaching Β£30,000 would allow the Renal Ward to purchase a desperately needed new dialysis machine right now reducing waiting times and providing more children with the life-sustaining treatment they desperately need. Every donation, no matter how small, is a step closer to giving these children a brighter future.

The renal service at Bristol Royal Hospital for Children, based on the Lighthouse Ward with its attached Haemodialysis Unit, provides specialist care for children across the South West of England and South Wales. The ward has nine inpatient beds alongside four to five dedicated haemodialysis stations and a two-bed treatment room. As one of only 13 specialist paediatric nephrology centres in the UK, it delivers a full regional nephro-urology service, including kidney transplantation for children.
Data from the UK Renal Registry shows that, as of December 2022, the Bristol centre was caring for 46 children under the age of 16 receiving kidney replacement therapy, with 35 living with functioning transplants and 11 on dialysis. The Care Quality Commission rates services for children and young people at the Bristol site as Outstanding, reflecting the hospitalβs reputation for high-quality specialist care.
Please donate however small toward the purchase of much needed items for the Renal ward for children. Some of the items required....
Floor playmats for the children
Comfy chairs so the parents can sit and watch their children play
Sensory lights
An ipad
Money to go towards new dialysis equipment

A proud dad of 4 kids, we always want the best for our own children. My youngest daughter works within the lifesaving renal unit in Bristol Childrens Hospital, caring for young children waiting for a transplant, or who have had them. The lives of these children depends on our support. Help us give them a fighting chance. Please read the below and I hope you might just want to donate something however small to this really worthwhile cause.
Imagine being 12-year-old Naia, a bright and active swimmer whose world was turned upside down by end-stage kidney failure. For a year, her future depended on a single gift: a kidney transplant. Thankfully, her dad was a match, and she is now thriving.
βBut for many children at Bristol's Renal Ward, serving the whole of the South West of England, the wait for that life-saving call continues. They spend hours, days, and even years hooked up to dialysis machines, a difficult and relentless reality. There is more and more demand for these specialist machines, without which many children cannot survive.
βTo this end, I have set an initial goal of raising Β£15,000 to directly support these young heroes and their families. The money we raise will go towards the small things that make a massive difference and the big-ticket items that change lives.

Working in the Healthcare Industry for the last 29 years, personal health should have been a priority. However, as the years went on, so did my waistline. Long days and late nights at the laptop, led me to a sedentary lifestyle, travelling and convenience food took over, leading me on a slippery slope towards poor health. The outcomes didn't look good, overweight, poor diet and sleep, a candidate for metabolic disease....
Boxing day 2019 I decided it was time to make some changes. I started walking, then jogging and cycling. Before I knew it I had enrolled in some races. However, lockdown had other ideas and most of the races were cancelled. Unbelievably my first competition was an Ultra Marathon, running 100k over 14 hours. Suffice to say I had found a new passion, completing 39 races over the past 4 years!
