What's your karate story?

If you do martial arts what made you start?
Was it a film? Bullied? Fitness? You tell us..

Why do you love it or hate it?

For me personally I started karate at the age of 7. I was bullied at school n had no confidence. I think my parents saw karate as an opportunity for me to defend myself but it became so much more! I love it. You might say addicted... My confidence has grown n all I want to do is push myself more. Gave me determination. Improved my health. Helped me to communicate like how any art does :) but best of all it was my escape.. N I found something I was good at! N what keeps me going? Well wanting to give kids who felt the same as me an opportunity to do what I've done, if possible better!! Karate has lead me around the world n if I can help others achieve their goals that would make me very happy indeed.

The reason I'm asking these questions to you.. I want to know other peoples stories and find people who share the same passion as me for a sport which is sometimes misunderstood.
