Rather than getting the answers that they deserved after Hillsborough, the families of the 97 became victims not only of what happened that day, but of one of the greatest miscarriages of justice our country has seen, enabled and carried out by the very State that is meant to protect and serve us.
No matter who you are, if you betray the public’s trust to protect yourself or those around you, you should face the consequences. We can never take away the years of hurt and torment these families have endured in their pursuit of justice, but we can ensure that no family has to go through the same ordeal again.
