Every successful project starts with a conversation.
Before the drawings, planning applications and construction work, there is a period of listening.
Understanding how people live, work and use a space is often the most important part of the design process.
Our architecture isn’t about imposing ideas. It’s about finding solutions that genuinely work for the people who will use them every day.
That’s where bespoke design begins.

With the island enjoying some glorious weather this week, it is a reminder of how important well-designed outdoor spaces can be.
The best homes are no longer just about the interiors. Thoughtfully designed terraces, courtyards, pergolas and outdoor entertaining areas can completely change how a property is experienced during the warmer months.
Whether it is creating shelter from the wind, capturing evening sunlight or allowing a natural flow between inside and out, good architecture can help people make far better use of their space throughout the year.
From outdoor kitchens and pool areas to quieter sheltered seating spaces, the most successful designs feel like a natural extension of the home itself.

Designing sustainable places starts with how we work ourselves.
At PF+A, we have been encouraging greener travel for over 13 years through our Green Token scheme, rewarding staff who walk, cycle, bus or car-share to work.
So far, that has returned £7,083 to our team.
Why does it matter?
Because reducing congestion, lowering emissions and supporting healthier lifestyles should not just be considered in developments and masterplans. It should be part of business culture too.
The way people move shapes the places we design.

Cobo Bay Hotel is a prominent west coast landmark, now moving into its next phase.
We are supporting our client through the full refurbishment and upgrade of the hotel, alongside the delivery of new staff accommodation.
Phase two has now received planning approval, including the careful reworking of the existing frontage, a new floor of accommodation and a side extension incorporating a ‘Sunset bar’, all designed to take full advantage of the coastal views.
A 1930s architectural influence runs through the scheme, helping to unify the composition of the new facade.
Given the nature of the site, the works are being delivered in phases across the winter months, allowing the hotel to reopen each spring and summer season.
A considered balance between client ambition, planning requirements and the demands of a highly visible coastal setting.
