Message Title: ANGELS - Pt.1

- God's Heavenly Hosts

Foundational Text: Hebrews 1:13-14

It is important for us to study about angels in our year of Power. God's Power manifest to us through the ministry of angels.

There are about 300 direct references to angels in the Bible. In this series, we will learn about who angels are, their power and how we can make use of them.

ANGEL:
Hebrew: Malakh

Greek: Angelos

Messenger: One who is sent.
Ministering spirits: Spirit beings who serve the heirs of salvation.

"Angels are spirits and they are servants."

Both God and Satan have angels but the focus of this series is on God and His angels - the good angels.

Angels are heavenly beings who serve God to execute His will. There is constantly the activities of angels around believers.

"God's blessing is going to come to you through the agency of an angel."

Most of the time, we refer to all heavenly beings are angels but that is not correct. The heavenly realm is made of diverse beings or entities.

"Angels are a part of the larger group of spiritual beings who serve God."

God's World:

Daniel 7:9-10

The passage describes the heavenly council of God's court that issues decrees.

Two main categories of beings in God's court.

1. Beings who minister to God.
They stay around His throne. Their number is a thousand thousands. Their abode and work is in the throne room of God. They include those who seat on thrones.

2. Beings who stand before God.
They move to and fro His throne. Their number is ten thousand times ten thousand. They are active and ready to move with the command of the Lord.

Revelation 4:1-11, 5:8-12:

A detailed description of the beings in God's court.

1. Living creatures:

Full of eyes; different faces.

Four of them are noted in the passage but they are not limited to four.

2. Elders: sit on thrones; white robes; wear crowns.

There are 24 of them and they are part of the heavenly council.

3. Angels: Innumerable company.
Their number is ten thousand times ten thousand and thousands of thousands.

"God's world has different personalities and entities."

The world of the supernatural is a real world and it is a world which has several active spiritual beings. Their activities are currently going on in heaven.

Genesis 3:23-24

Cherubim:
Guard and Protector.

Ezekiel 1:4-9

1.Structure of a man.
2.Different faces
3.Four wings
4.Bright and Sparking
5.Move in straight line

Ezekiel 10:18-22

The cherubim are the Living creatures. They guard God's space. They are fearsome four-faced entities who guard the heavenly space or presence of God.

Cherubim are spiritual beings but all the heavenly beings are not cherubim.

"Cherubim are not angels."

Exodus 25:18-21

The mercy seat represented the throne of God in the Ark of the Testimony. The cherubim are the entities that guard the throne of God. What is seen in heaven is replicated on earth. Cherubim are guardians of the presence of God.

"Cherubim don't visit man."

Isaiah 6:1-6

The Seraphim have six wings and they are the fiercest and most scary of all the heavenly beings.

They work with the cherubim. The seraphim have voices like thunder. They keep shouting 'Holy, holy, holy is the LORD of hosts...' in eternity. Wherever God is, they are.

"The presence of God is an awesome presence."

No being on earth can get to the presence of God. That is why our salvation through Jesus Christ is such a great privilege.

Christ gives us access to the throne of God always. The Blood of Jesus is a covering that allow us into the presence of God everyday.

"The cherubim and seraphim are not angels."

None of these heavenly beings could come down to us for our redemption because none qualified so God had to come down Himself. God uses angels as His messengers.

How do Angels Look Like?

Genesis 19:1-5; Acts 12:7-11

1. Angels can make themselves visible or invisible.

2. Angels appear to humans in human form.

3.They bring God's instructions to humans.

4. They manifest God's power in human situations.

"Angels have a heavenly body that is adaptable."

Why Learn about Angels?

Hebrews 13:2

We need to be sensitive to the presence of the supernatural around us. We need to welcome angels.

There are many times that people have had angelic visitations without knowing it. You need to recognise them in your life.

May their presence become real in your life and may they be multiplied to deliver you.

"May your heart be open to the presence of angels all around you."

May the Lord find us worthy of His visitation.
