This is Traditionally made maize storage in Ghana, mostly found in the Volta Region, is a centuries-old practice that preserves cultural heritage.

These barns, made from natural materials like wood and thatch, protect maize from pests and weather conditions. They symbolize the rich cultural identity of Ghanaians and their connection to the land.

The practice also contributes to food security by ensuring a steady supply of maize throughout the year. The use of natural materials in barn construction reduces environmental impact, promoting sustainability and climate action.

Traditional storage also alleviates poverty by generating income for families and communities in the long run.

As a photographer, I took it upon myself to photograph and document farmers working hard to feed the country and contribute to the economy.
