THEME: The Father's Lavished Love

TEXT: 1 John 3:1

See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are!

As we read these words, we are reminded of the incredible love that God has for us. The apostle John writes that the Father has "lavished" his love on us. This word "lavished" means to pour out generously, to give abundantly. It's a word that describes the extravagant, overflowing love of God.

Think about it. We are sinners, unworthy of God's love. We have rebelled against him, disobeyed him, and ignored him. But despite all of this, God still loves us. In fact, he loves us so much that he wants to call us his children.

This is an amazing truth. We are children of God! We are part of his family, heirs to his kingdom, and recipients of his love. We are loved, accepted, and valued by the Creator of the universe.

But this truth is not just a feeling or an idea. It's a reality that should shape our lives. As children of God, we should live like it. We should live with confidence, knowing that we are loved and accepted by God. We should live with purpose, knowing that we have a role to play in God's kingdom. We should live with humility, knowing that we are not worthy of God's love, but that he loves us anyway.

So let's live like children of God. Let's live with gratitude, knowing that we have been lavished with God's love. Let's live with obedience, knowing that we are called to follow God's commands. Let's live with joy, knowing that we are part of God's family and that we have a future hope.

Beloved, Let's remember that we are children of God, loved and accepted by him.

1. Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for lavishing your love on me and calling me your child. Help me to grasp the depth of your love and to live accordingly.
2. Lord, help me to live with confidence and purpose, knowing that I am a child of God. Give me the courage to share your love with others.
3. Father, I pray that I would live a life that honors you and reflects your love. Help me to obey your commands and to follow your ways.
4. Lord, thank you for the promise of eternal life with you. Help me to live with an eternal perspective, knowing that my true home is with you.
5. Heavenly Father, I pray that your love would be poured out in my life and in the lives of those around me. Help us to experience the depth of your love and to share it with others.
