Why Did The Serpent Tempt Eve?

According to the story in Genesis 3, the Serpent successfully tempted Eve into eating from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. Why did he do this? Why was the tree there? And what is the relationship between the Serpent and Eve?

The Serpent in the Eʋeo culture is known as Voduda and is revered by highly spiritual people. Voduda is a deity that travels freely anywhere and is a spiritual spouse to many. This deity in Genesis 3 was Eve's spiritual spouse; this is why he spoke to her and not Adam. Now that the relationship between Eve and the Serpent has been established, the purpose of the tree now comes into question.

God declared that the tree of the knowledge of good and evil was not to be eaten from and if they did eat from it they would die; so then why did God create it? I have come to the conclusion that the fruit of the tree was meant to be eaten. To understand why you must understand the
purpose of life.

We are spiritual beings having a physical experience; this is a statement I heard many years ago but did not understand until recently. We all came into this world from the spiritual world through our mother's womb. Before we came we were assigned a mission which we agreed to.
Our Se is the one to whom we made this promise, along with a few witnesses. Whether or not we have accomplished our mission we will eventually return to the spiritual realm. In order to return, we must die.

With this understanding in mind, the reason for the tree becomes apparent. A person is not ment to live forever. The tree was there to ensure that those created in God's image could return to the spiritual world. Hence why the Serpent tempted Eve.

As I learn more about Eʋeo spiritual practices the more I see similarities to the world religions. I have heard it said that these religions copied or learned from the Eʋeo.

Some of the deity celebrations that I have been learning about recently are reminiscent of the Muslim faith, in particular those related to the Kola deities. Just last week my husband attended a program called Salah.

Depending on the group, Salah is an annual celebration at which the members of a traditional shrine gather to pray according to the customs of the ancient Kola deities. The people wearing white, gather early in the morning and pray facing the sunrise, and again later, facing the sunset. They wear white to signify cleanliness and victory.
