Follow Up: Regularly check your email for any communication from universities regarding missing documents, interview requests, or updates on your application status. Respond promptly and provide any requested information.
Prepare for Interviews: If you're selected for interviews, research common interview questions and practice your responses. Prepare questions to ask the interviewers as well.
Evaluate Acceptances and Make a Decision: Once you start receiving admission offers, compare the programs, financial aid packages, and other factors important to you. Make a decision and inform the university of your acceptance.
Visa Application: If accepted, begin the process of obtaining a student visa. Contact the university's international student office for guidance and ensure you have all necessary documentation.
HOW TO CRAFT A RESEARCH TOPIC FROM AVAILABLE DATASET
The abundance of available data in various fields has created unprecedented opportunities for researchers to explore and discover new knowledge. However, selecting a research topic that effectively leverages this data and contributes meaningfully to the field can be a daunting task. Traditional methods of topic selection often rely on personal interest or literature reviews, but these approaches may overlook hidden patterns and relationships in the data.
Data-Driven Research Topic Selection (DDRTS) is a systematic technique that harnesses the power of data exploration and analysis to identify research topics that are both data-rich and knowledge-gap relevant. By examining the characteristics, patterns, and relationships within available data, researchers can uncover hidden insights and formulate research questions that address significant gaps in existing literature.
Deciding a research topic for journal publication based on available data and its properties involves several steps:
1. Data Exploration: Examine the data to understand its characteristics, patterns, and relationships.
2. Identify Research Gaps: Determine what research questions or hypotheses have not been addressed in existing literature.
3. Data Properties: Consider the data's properties, such as:
- Type (quantitative, qualitative, or mixed)
- Size and complexity
- Variables and their relationships
- Time series or cross-sectional data
4. Research Questions: Formulate specific, concise, and testable research questions or hypotheses based on the data and gaps identified.
5. Literature Review: Conduct a thorough review of existing research on the topic to:
- Understand the current state of knowledge
- Identify methodological limitations
- Inform your research design and methodology
6. Methodology: Select appropriate research methods and statistical analyses based on the data properties and research questions.
7. Significance and Impact: Ensure the research topic has practical significance, theoretical implications, or contributes to the field's advancement.
Example:
Suppose you have a dataset containing customer information, purchase history, and demographic data. You notice a correlation between age and purchase frequency.
Research Topic: "Examining the Relationship Between Age and Consumer Behavior: An Exploratory Study"
Research Questions:
- Is there a significant correlation between age and purchase frequency?
- Do different age groups exhibit distinct consumer behavior patterns?
This is a tip you should try

PhD WITHOUT MASTERS; WHY YOU SHOULD OPT FOR IT AS A BS GRADUATE
I have noticed that several young graduates don't react to my post on funded opportunities for PhD. They must be thinking they are not qualified or lack the requisite qualifications to apply for these positions. Well! That is not correct my friend. You can go from just a BS degree directly to a PhD with the need for a master's degree. Yes, you can. Read on to find out how.
In the United States, a Masterโs degree is not required for admission to most PhD programs. It is possible and not unusual to be admitted to a PhD program straight out of undergrad.
The number of direct-entry PhD programs has started to rise in Canada as well, though earning a Masterโs and then a PhD is still more common. In Canada, it is also possible for academically promising students to begin a Masterโs degree and then โfast trackโ or transfer to the PhD program without completing the requirements of the Masterโs degree. The good thing about D-PhD is, you can easily get funding with a D-PhD option. Especially in the USA where there are plenty PhD GRA opportunities, you will easily find funding for PhD than Masters.
Now, here are some of the advantages of applying for a Ph.D. instead of a master's as a Graduate.
- Time commitment-
Many American PhD programs do not offer significant coursework reduction for students who already have Masterโs degrees. This means that they will have to do a five to seven-year PhD on top of their one to three-year Master's. If this is the case, then starting a PhD directly out of undergrad is the faster choice.
Funding-
Funding is one of the top advantages of a direct-entry PhD program. Most PhD programs offer students partial or full funding for their studies and many even pay them a stipend on top of a tuition waiver. There are also a greater number of external funding opportunities available to PhD students such as national grants and major fellowships which favour PhD work over Masterโs studies.
Start working right away-
Students who have a clear understanding of their research interests and have already identified potential supervisors might prefer not to delay their PhD work by obtaining a Masterโs first.
Moving only once While doing a Masterโs first exposes a student to academic life at multiple universities, the flip side is that it requires moving twice: once for the Masterโs and once for the PhD. Moving can be time-consuming and expensiveโespecially if one or both degrees are done abroad.
Will still earn a Masterโs-
Students in direct-entry PhD programs will usually be awarded a Masterโs degree along the way for coursework completed during their doctorate.
Now that you know, as a Graduate with a first degree, the next time you see a PhD position from any University in the USA, scan through the basic requirements and apply for the position, for you are qualified.

GRADUATE SCHOOL QUEST AND RESEARCH PUBLICATIONS
One of the first thing that gave me the advantage in Graduate school and my search for funding was the number of published articles I had after graduation.
At my final year project defence, one of the panelist was impressed with the work me and my Project members presented. He was particularly facinnated at first with the beautiful illustration with AutoCAD and the beautifully arranged Equations with the correct notation. He asked that I forwarded the softcopy of the work to his e-mail. I did that almost immediately and a week later, he asked to see me in his office.
The days that followed was my foray in the art of research writing and publishing academic articles. We collaborated on that paper and immediately, I became a published scholar.
Years later, I would go on to collaborate with a number of other researchers in the academic community on a number of subjects. This gave me visibility, undue advantage and a 'hard to say no' kind of luck. Before my masters, I already had 11 journal publications, 3 Academic textbooks and a number of reviews.
Now, how hard is it for someone to publish a paper or article? This may be your question and you have been longing for the right answer. Here is the answer you seek my friend.
Writing and publishing Academic papers is one of the simplest task in the Academics. This is because, there's a standardized format and a number of guide to direct you aright. Unfortunately, in Ghanaian Universities and particularly for Undergraduate studies, you don't get to find this guidance.
The codified standard for Academic articles is the AIMRaD
A - Abstract
I - Introduction
M - Materials and Method
R - Results
a - And
D - Discussion
Following this format, you can convert your BS project or Ms dissertation into a very rich article that would be acceptable by international journals with worldwide citations.
