EUROPEAN Shiatsu Congress —
That precious time when old friends meet again,
and new friends find each other for the very first time.

I carry beautiful memories from every congress I have attended.
The people who organise it, and those who take part,
arrive with a quiet joy —
a joy born from the wish to share the art of Shiatsu,
to offer, to learn,
to breathe together in the same field of intention.

It is a gathering where hearts recognise one another
before words are even spoken,
and where the practice becomes a living thread
connecting us across countries, schools, and stories.

Home When choosing the theme for the 8th European Shiatsu Congress, we asked ourselves: ‘What does shiatsu represent to us? What is its most precious gift? How does its uniqueness manifest itself?’

Συγκινούμαι βαθιά όταν δουλεύω με ανθρώπους που πενθούν. Όσο και δικούς σου ανθρώπους να έχεις κοντά σου, ο πόνος της απώλειας και η επεξεργασία του είναι καθαρά προσωπική υπόθεση. Η βιογραφία μου με έφερε , θέλοντας και μη, αντιμέτωπη από πολύ νέα με τη θεμελιώδη αρχή της απώλειας, του θανάτου.
Έχοντας βιώσει τον πόνο της απώλειας και τον αντίκτυπο στη ζωή μου και στο σώμα μου, νιώθω άνετα να ακούω τον θεραπευόμενο να κλαίει και να προσπαθεί να «χωνέψει» το αχώνευτο της απώλειας. Αυτό το “άνετα” σημαίνει εξοικείωση με τον πόνο του πένθους τόσο στην ψυχή όσο και στο σώμα.
Όντας παρούσα με επίγνωση ότι το πένθος είναι μια κατάσταση με βαθιά στο χρόνο διεργασία, συνοδεύω τον θεραπευόμενο να συνδεθεί με τον πόνο και να τον «σηκώσει», να τον αντέξει, να τον «χωνέψει», να τον επεξεργαστεί να τον νοηματοδοτήσει.
Γιατί δουλεύοντας με το Sei-ki, Japanese Shiatsu δουλεύουμε με τα ανθρώπινα.


I Am Deeply Moved When I Work with People in Grief

I am deeply moved when I work with people who are grieving. No matter how many loved ones you have by your side, the pain of loss — and the process of coming to terms with it — is a profoundly personal matter. My own life story brought me, willingly or not, face to face from a very young age with the fundamental reality of loss and death.

Having experienced the pain of loss myself, and the impact it had on my life and my body, I feel at ease listening to a client cry and try to “digest” the indigestible reality of loss. This sense of ease comes from familiarity with the pain of grief — both in the soul and in the body.

Being present, with awareness that grief is a condition whose process unfolds deeply over time, I accompany the client as they connect with their pain — to hold it, to endure it, to digest it, to process it, to give it meaning.

Because when we work with Sei-ki, Japanese Shiatsu, we work with what is deeply human.

Μέσα από αυτή τη στροφή, αποκαλύπτεται η αλήθεια της σύνδεσης ανάμεσα στις εμπειρίες που βιώνουμε και στον τρόπο με τον οποίο αυτές εντυπώνονται και αντανακλώνται στο σώμα μας.

It is vital to understand that working with our body is the only true path to self-care.
Attachment to the mind and thought is a deep wound — and the sooner we recognize it, the more clearly we will see the necessity of turning toward the activation of awareness and observation.
Through this shift, the truth of the connection between our lived experiences and the way they imprint and reflect in our body is revealed.
