Maria Teo Roropoulos - Martero
operatic duet
"Empty chairs at empty tables"
Empty Chairs at Empty Tables" is a poignant solo from the musical Les Misérables, sung by the character Marius Pontmercy.
Following a failed student Paris revolution in the June of 1832, Marius, the sole survivor among his friends, returns to their café meeting spot and sings about his intense survivor's guilt, loneliness, and the haunting memories of his lost comrades.
The song highlights the emotional pain of being alive while dear friends are dead, focusing on the emptiness they left behind.
However, It also serves as a moment of deep mourning, where Marius moves from grief to a realization that he must live on to honor their memory.
Celebrating a with gratitude of God being made man, and with hope He can be born inside our hearts these festive season!
Merry Christmas and warm greetings from the northernmost town of Greece!
