DOMa hosted a lecture dedicated to OMA on Tuesday, May 12, celebrating fifty years of the influential architectural practice. The evening featured Chris van Duijn - OMA Partner since 2014 and longtime member of the office since 1996 - who presented a compelling overview of OMA’s work across Asia, focusing on China and South Korea.

From the landmark CCTV Headquarters in Beijing to large-scale urban strategies, adaptive reuse projects, and new housing models for shrinking cities, the presentation unfolded as a reflection on architecture’s ability to engage with political, social, and cultural transformation. Beyond the projects themselves, the discussion revealed the tensions, contradictions, and unexpected negotiations that emerge when architecture operates across different geographies and worldviews.

The evening continued with a conversation moderated by Haris Biskos, joined by Georgios Panetsos and former OMA collaborators from Greece: Andreas Kourkoulas, Point Supreme (Konstantinos Pantazis & Marianna Rentzou), and Andreas Karavanas. Through their reflections, a broader discussion emerged around OMA’s legacy - from its shift away from architecture as pure form toward architecture as methodology, urban thinking, research, and cultural production.
