Greece has emerged as one of Europe’s strongest tourism performers in early 2026, recording sharp increases in both international arrivals and visitor spending, according to the latest European Travel Commission (ETC) quarterly report.

The European Tourism: Trends & Prospects (Q2/2026) report shows international arrivals to Greece rose by 38.3% year-on-year in the first months of 2026 – the highest growth among reporting destinations.

Greece outperformed other leading Mediterranean destinations, including Italy (21.1%) and Malta (16.4%), contributing to continued growth across Southern and Mediterranean Europe.

The report also highlights the increasing value of Greece’s tourism performance. Travel spending surged 64.3%, significantly outpacing visitor growth and pointing to higher spending per trip, while average daily rates (ADR) in the country’s short-term rental market climbed 28.7% year-on-year.
