Early Childhood Unit–NCERD Celebrates the 3rd International Day of Play 2026

The Early Childhood Unit of the National Centre for Educational Resource Development (NCERD) proudly participated in the 3rd International Day of Play Exhibition, held on June 11, 2026, at the University of Guyana, under the global theme “Protect Play, Protect Childhood.”

The exhibition highlighted the critical role of play in children's learning, development, and overall well-being. Educators, parents, and children actively engaged in a variety of interactive activities designed to showcase the power of meaningful play experiences.

Participants explored indigenized games, conventional toys, and a range of constructive and dramatic play activities that foster creativity, problem-solving, collaboration, and cultural appreciation. The event provided an opportunity for families and educators to experience firsthand how play supports holistic child development and strengthens learning outcomes.

The Early Childhood Unit–NCERD remains committed to promoting quality early childhood education and advocating for every child's right to play. Through initiatives such as these, the Unit continues to encourage learning environments where play is recognized as an essential foundation for healthy growth, development, and lifelong learning.
