Brethren, Psalms 16:1 NKJV
[1] Preserve me, O God, for in You I put my trust.

Topic: APPROACH THE THRONE OF GRACE.

Scripture Reading: Hebrews 4:16 NKJV
[16] Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.

Believers are invited to pray directly to God with confidence, knowing that they will be met with compassion and practical help rather than judgment. The original Greek word for "confidence" is parrēsia, which implies freedom of speech, openness, and courage. As believers, we do not need to hide our struggles or be ashamed when we come before God.

This stands in direct contrast to an earthly throne of judgment or the Old Testament Holy of Holies. Because of Jesus' perfect sacrifice, God's supreme ruling place is now a throne of unearned favor, love, and accessibility. At the throne of grace, believers receive mercy, which brings forgiveness of sins, and grace, which provides the ongoing strength needed to overcome life's daily struggles.

Believers can approach the throne of grace freely and should not be overcome by guilt or fear. Our sympathetic High Priest has given us access to God's throne. Therefore, no matter what we go through, we can obtain mercy and find grace whenever we need it. God's throne is not a place where believers are condemned; rather, it is a place where we receive compassion because our High Priest understands the trials, struggles, and temptations we face.

The question is: Are we willing to come boldly before the throne of grace?

[1] May the Lord answer you in the day of trouble; May the name of the God of Jacob defend you;

Topic: WE HAVE A SYMPATHETIC HIGH PRIEST.

Scripture Reading: Hebrews 4:15 NKJV
[15] For we do not have a High Priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but was in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin.

Jesus, our High Priest, deeply understands human suffering and temptation because He faced every human test, yet never sinned. He offers compassionate support rather than harsh judgment when we struggle, enabling believers to confidently approach God for help in times of need.

In ancient Jewish tradition, the high priest acted as the mediator between God and the people. The author of Hebrews explains that Jesus fulfills this role. However, unlike the mortal priests who were also flawed, Jesus understands our pain intimately. The Greek word for "sympathize,"sympatheō, means "to suffer with" or "to share in another's feelings and struggles."

Jesus experienced genuine human trials—betrayal, physical pain, hunger, sorrow, and severe spiritual testing. He experienced the full weight of what it means to be human. He was tempted in every way, meaning He truly understands the pressure and struggle to give in to wrongdoing. Yet this is the critical distinction: Jesus felt the full force of temptation without ever surrendering to it. His sinlessness is what qualifies Him to be our perfect Savior and faithful High Priest.

As believers, we can now come boldly before the throne of God because we have a sympathetic High Priest who understands our suffering. In simple terms, Jesus walked the path we walk, but He walked it perfectly. The Lord understands what we are going through and the struggles we face each day. Therefore, He invites us to boldly approach His throne of grace to receive mercy and find the help we need, because He is always willing to help us and fully understands what we face.

[1] My heart is overflowing with a good theme; I recite my composition concerning the King; My tongue is the pen of a ready writer.

Topic: CHOOSING THE RIGHT PATH.

Scripture Reading: Matthew 7:14 NKJV
[14] Because narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it.

The narrow gate represents entering into a relationship with God through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. It is the demanding path of genuine faith that is demonstrated by obedience to God's will, and it leads to eternal life. In contrast, the wide gate symbolizes the easy, popular way of self-centeredness, which ultimately leads to destruction.

The wide gate and the broad road require no effort to enter and accommodate popular cultural norms and human desires. They represent a lifestyle built on self-dependence, superficial righteousness, and the acceptance of false teaching because it is easy and comfortable. Many find this path appealing because it satisfies their sinful desires.

The small gate and the narrow path represent the challenging journey of discipleship, self-denial, and true inner righteousness. This way is often difficult and restrictive, requiring followers of Christ to deny themselves, take up their cross daily, resist personal pride, and stand against the pressures of the world. Yet it is the path that leads to salvation and eternal life.

The Lord Jesus issues a direct challenge to His listeners to intentionally examine the direction of their lives. He emphasizes that choosing the right path often means going against the crowd. While the broad road is popular because it promises immediate gratification and acceptance, it ends in destruction. The narrow road may be difficult, but it leads to life.

We all have a decision to make: either we choose the narrow path that leads to life or the broad path that leads to destruction. Many people follow the crowd because their desires are temporarily satisfied, but in the end, it costs them everything.

The choice before us is clear: temporary pleasure that ends in eternal condemnation, or faith in Christ that leads us onto the narrow path, resulting in eternal life. Jesus Himself is the Door (John 10:9) and the Way (John 14:6). Those who place their trust in Him and follow Him will find life everlasting.

Did you know the broad path temporarily satisfies but in the end, it cost everything?
