Brethren, Psalms 20:1 NKJV
[1] May the Lord answer you in the day of trouble; May the name of the God of Jacob defend you;

Topic: THE GATE OF HELL SHALL NOT PREVAIL.
Part Two

Scripture Reading: Matthew 16:18 NKJV
[18] And I also say to you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build My church, and the gates of Hades shall not prevail against it.

The gate of hell is not a literal gate, but rather a metaphor for the schemes, strategies, and counsel of the enemy. While modern readers may hear the word “gate” and think of physical barriers or doors, the word carried a radically different political and military meaning in ancient times. City gates were not merely security checkpoints; they were the civil, political, and judicial centers of the city.

Kings, elders, and judges sat at the city gates to hold court, make legal decisions, and govern. Military generals also gathered there to devise strategies, draw battle plans, and organize campaigns. This historical and cultural context explains that a gate represented far more than what we commonly imagine today.

Therefore, when the Lord Jesus emphatically declared that “the gate of hell shall not prevail against the church,” He was not speaking about demons attacking the church with spears and javelins. Rather, He was referring to the schemes, strategies, and counsel of the enemy.

The subtlety of the devil cannot be underestimated, for he has been around longer than all of us, yet his strategies remain the same. However, the church has been equipped with the Word of God to overcome the schemes, strategies, and counsel of the enemy. We are not ignorant of the devices of the wicked, and because of this, the church is no longer merely on the defensive, but has become an advancing force.

The church storms the strongholds of evil, sin, and death, and the gate of hell cannot withstand its assault. It is a guarantee of absolute and final victory.

Did you know the church storms the stronghold of evil, sin and death, and the gate of hell cannot withstand its assault?

Tomorrow we will be looking at (THE GATE OF HELL SHALL NOT PREVAIL) Part Three

Hallelujah! Praise God! Thank You, Jesus!

*Prayer: Father, in the name of Jesus, thank You for equipping me with all that is needed to fight against the gate of hell. In Jesus' name, Amen!*

Brethren, Psalms 19:1 NKJV
[1] The heavens declare the glory of God; And the firmament shows His handiwork.

Topic: AVOID FOOLISH DISPUTES

Scripture Reading: Titus 3:9 NKJV
[9] But avoid foolish disputes, genealogies, contentions, and strivings about the law; for they are unprofitable and useless.

Believers are to avoid petty and divisive arguments and instead focus on the gospel of grace and productive good works.

“Foolish controversies” refers to speculative debates about trivial or non-essential matters. Some became caught up in arguments about genealogies, obsessively tracing family histories. The false teachers in Crete likely used these genealogies to prove spiritual superiority or exclusive heritage. Believers were also warned not to engage in disputes over the intricacies of the Mosaic law, which legalistic Jews claimed were necessary for salvation.

The Apostle Paul is not condemning the study of Scripture or learning about family history itself. Rather, he is addressing conversations that become toxic, arrogant, or distracting from genuine Christian faith. These discussions bear no fruit and are unprofitable and useless. They stir up division instead of leading to spiritual maturity, making them counterproductive and fruitless.

Such foolish arguments often caused division within the church. They became a platform for false teachers to exalt themselves and lead others astray. Therefore, it is important to keep the church focused on the essentials of God’s grace and practical acts of service. Believers must not be drawn into situations where minor details or theological nitpicking are used to stir up arguments and divide the congregation.

Did you know we should avoid foolish arguments and disputes?

Tomorrow we will be looking at (REJECT DIVISIVE BEHAVIOR)

Hallelujah! Praise God! Thank You, Jesus!

*Prayer: Father, in the name of Jesus, please help me to avoid foolish disputes and arguments that will cause strive. In Jesus' name, Amen!*

Brethren, Psalms 42:2 NKJV
[2] My soul thirsts for God, for the living God. When shall I come and appear before God?

Topic: PREACH THE WORD.

Scripture Reading: II Timothy 4:2 NKJV
[2] Preach the word! Be ready in season and out of season. Convince, rebuke, exhort, with all longsuffering and teaching.

The foundational biblical charge was given to Timothy by the Apostle Paul. Timothy was admonished to faithfully and boldly proclaim God's truth regardless of the circumstances, while combining correction with deep patience and sound teaching.

Preach the Word: emphasizes the bold, unwavering proclamation of the Bible and the gospel rather than personal opinions. When we preach Scripture, we preach Christ and not our opinions.

Be ready in season and out of season: be consistently prepared to share God's message whether the situation or audience is favorable and convenient, or challenging and inconvenient.

Correct, rebuke, and encourage: take a balanced pastoral approach. This means addressing errors, confronting sinful behavior with conviction, and lifting up the weary.

With great patience and careful instruction: base all actions on biblical teaching rather than emotional outbursts, ensuring corrections are delivered with gentleness and endurance.

The Apostle Paul knew his life was nearing its end, and he was giving Timothy an urgent final commission to stand strong against false teachers and fulfill his ministry.

Did you know we must preach the Word of God and not our personal opinions?

Tomorrow we will be looking at (NO LONGER ENSURING SOUND DOCTRINE)

Hallelujah! Praise God! Thank You, Jesus!

*Prayer: Father, in the name of Jesus, please help me to preach Christ when it is convenient and when it isn't. In Jesus' name, Amen!*
