Progress of a country must be a balance between economic and human development. If economic growth is being distributed on just a few people, it will never contribute to the progress of the countries that generate it. GDP growth has become a key orientation for politics and is often taken as a key figure to evaluate a politician's performance. A country or population realizes progress when change result in any of the following: longer lives, reduce infant mortality, decrease in morbidity, increase in people's options, greater equality, more freedom or a reduction in fear of other people or of their own rulers.
