Our Kanuku Mountains Protected Area (KMPA) Ranger team recently hosted an important sensitization session with the regional Traffic Department, Region 9.

Upholding the law and ensuring total compliance is at the core of what we do. Because our fieldwork requires specific licensing, this outreach marks a major step forward in streamlining that process for our team.

Beyond compliance, this session was an opportunity to strengthen our ongoing relationship with local law enforcement. Thank you to the Traffic Department for their time, guidance, and continued support as we work to protect and manage the KMPA.

On Sunday, in recognition of World Environment Day 2026, the Protected Areas Commission (PAC) team at the Kanuku Mountains Protected Area (KMPA) walked side-by-side with sister government agencies, non-governmental organizations, school students, and community members.

It was a display of unity, all focused on a single, vital mission: inspiring and promoting environmental responsibility in Region 9.

A massive shoutout to our KMPA team, who work every day to safeguard the incredible biodiversity of the Kanuku Mountains. Your energy reminded everyone that conservation is a shared journey.

Thank you to EPA - Guyana for leading the charge, and to everyone who walked with us. Let’s continue to protect, preserve, and sustain our natural environment! 🇬🇾✨

Happy World Ocean Day 2026! 🌊

This year, we embrace the powerful global theme, “Reimagine: Beyond the world we know, a new relationship with our ocean,” by reflecting on the vital marine ecosystems right here in Guyana.

Our oceans and protected areas are deeply interconnected. At the Shell Beach Protected Area (SBPA), this new relationship comes to life as we work to preserve spaces that sustain both nature and people.

The SBPA serves as critical, safe nesting grounds for endangered sea turtles, nurtures the rich mangrove ecosystems that mitigate coastal erosion and store carbon, and sustains local fisheries and secures livelihoods for present and future generations.

🇬🇾💙

Happy World Environment Day 2026!

As Guyana continues to pave the way globally through the visionary Low Carbon Development Strategy (LCDS 2030) and the pioneering Global Biodiversity Alliance, we are reminded that the solutions to our planet's greatest challenges are found in nature itself.

From our vast forests that capture carbon to the wetlands and ecosystems that protect our communities, our natural heritage is our greatest asset. Protecting our rivers, wildlife, and dedicated protected areas isn't just about conservation, it is a direct investment in climate resilience and our collective well-being.

How you can take action today:

♻️ Conserve resources and reduce daily waste.
🌱 Plant native species to support local biodiversity.
🌎 Support and practice environmental stewardship in your community.

Every action counts. Let us be inspired by nature, act for the climate, and safeguard Guyana's remarkable natural treasures for generations to come.
