Agriculture Sector Development Unit

In celebration of International Women’s Day, the Makushi Research Unit under the NRDDB, with support from the HESAD Project under Ministry of Agriculture, is hosting a North Rupununi Women and Youth Conference at the Bina Hill Institute.
This 2-day activity aims to cover topics such as What is Women Empowerment and Why discuss Women Empowerment, Gender and Discrimination, sexual offences, Domestic Violence against Women and Children in the first day. The second day will follow with discussions on Teenage pregnancy, drugs and alcohol as well as an exhibition.
This platform is also supporting an exchange visit with the Wapichan Women Movement from the South Rupununi to share experiences and lessons learned.
Representatives from all 13 communities under the NRDDB are gathered to participate in this event.
