Coincidentally, we all wore bright red this 初一.
This deserves a post on its own!!

“Some days, I wish life came with a manual—because holding everything together is quietly breaking me.”

This was a conversation I had with a friend not too long ago who was struggling with taking care of aged-parents and 2 young kids. She and husband are well employed, earning decent salaries, just enough to pay for their home mortgages, kids’ tuitions, kids’ hobbies, household insurances, bills and all other miscellaneous expenses. Sure they do have some savings and a tiny bit of cashflow.

They do invest, but with times like this (we’re talking about the markets being all time low again because of the tariff-ic Trump), the paper losses are devastating, the rates in banks are demoralising, they are just feeling like what most Singaporeans feel...

SIAN ah.

The truth is that most of us are
- 𝐍𝐨𝐭 𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐡 𝐞𝐧𝐨𝐮𝐠𝐡 𝐭𝐨 𝐫𝐞𝐭𝐢𝐫𝐞 𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐥𝐲.

I had this realization recently. I almost never buy bottled water because I think, why spend $1.50 when I have perfectly good water at home? But when it comes to coffee, I happily spend $6 for just 250ml that doesn’t even quench my thirst!

We’re willing to pay for these small luxuries because they bring us a sense of comfort and joy. And that’s perfectly fine! But it got me thinking:

When it comes to something as critical as securing our financial future—whether it’s through savings, investments, or income protection for our loved ones—why do we hesitate? Why do we reject these decisions that, unlike coffee, offer long-term security and peace of mind?
The truth is, the value of things like wealth accumulation or insurance isn’t as immediate or tangible as a warm cup of coffee. But their impact is far greater. That $6 we spend on coffee today could be $6 invested toward a future where our loved ones are financially protected, and our dreams are realized.
