Did you know May is Haitian Heritage Month? 🇭🇹🗓 We’re excited to spend the rest of this month sharing more about the country we know and love — starting with its name! ⬇

“Haiti” comes from the Indigenous Taíno word Ayiti, meaning “land of high mountains.” ⛰️ These mountains have long provided crops, homes for village communities, and breathtaking views across the country. But they also tell stories of hardship, as erosion and mudslides can make mountain life difficult and dangerous during heavy rains.

Through it all, Haiti’s mountains hold deep history and remain an important part of Ayiti Cherie’s identity. 🇭🇹❤️

Motorbikes — commonly called "motos" — are the primary mode of transportation in Haiti. 🏍🇭🇹 They’re school buses, grocery carriers, ambulances, taxis, and lifelines for families every single day. And just when you think they're full, there's always room for one more! 😎
