**UPDATE** The ruling at the close of the day on Friday stated that temporary status will be extended until July 24th gives those living in fear another 2 weeks of legal right to work. But this constant shifting of time does not give anyone security or safety. Please don’t stop communicating with your representatives.

Today is July 10th. An ordinary Friday to most people living in the US, looking forward to the end of the week, and perhaps, if work and time permit, a little relaxation on the weekend.

But to 330,000 people who have been living, working, paying taxes, building families, buying houses, sending their kids to school ........ it is not an ordinary day.

At 11:59 tonight 330,000 Haitians living in the US with temporary protection will lose their right to work. This right to work will also mean they will lose their license to drive.

If you have a loved one in a hospital or receiving in-home care, many might be Haitian care givers. In some cities in the US, starting tomorrow, you might want to be aware of a reduction of services. If you have a loved on in a hospital, an elderly relative receiving in home care, if you like to go to a specific restaurant, or appreciate the landscaping in public or private areas nearby..... you might want to open your schedule to pick up the slack. You might need to spend the weekend with your elderly relatives, go back into the kitchen at your favorite Resturant to chop some veggies, or get out the w**d whacker yourself at the nearby park...... because the Haitians who once filled these positions will not be arriving at work tomorrow. They will be living in fear, hiding in their homes, and wondering about their future.

People are being told they should “Self Deport” to a nation in which the airport has been closed for 20 months. They are telling Haitians to “self deport” to a nation that they tell US citizens: "Do Not Travel to Haiti due to the risk of crime, kidnapping, terrorism, unrest, and limited health care."

If you would like to stand with Haitians who are living in uncertainty, you can take action, and contact your senator - no matter where in the nation you live the form will auto populate to send to your specific senator.
