Trait of a union between the word and action. We young we can.

Ou se premye antidòt !!!

Fanm se premye powèm lavi a. Se nan prezans li lavi pran koulè li, tankou yon ti limyè k ap klere dousman nan mitan fènwa. Anvan menm nou konprann tout mistè li, kè nou deja aprann bat nan ritm prezans li.

🌸 Bòn fèt ak tout medam yo! Nou se fòs, bote, limyè ak espwa ki fè mond lan vin pi bèl chak jou. 💐💖

Lighting the Path for Tomorrow: ONAJEU’s 2023 Youth Empowerment Day in Pignon, Haiti

On December 25th 2023, the National Organislzation Youth Action (ONAJEU) hosted a vibrant and transformative youth-centered activity in the heart of Pignon, a community in Haiti’s Nord (North) Department. This impactful initiative reached 100 children — a powerful testament to ONAJEU’s growing mission to uplift, educate, and empower young people across the country.

The event was held in a modest but lively shelter, where hope, laughter, and learning filled the air. Families, local leaders, and volunteers came together to make the day possible — creating a moment that will live long in the memory of the community.

Why Pignon?

Pignon, like many towns in the northern region, is filled with vibrant culture and untapped potential, but also faces socio-economic challenges that often limit opportunities for youth. ONAJEU chose Pignon as a strategic and symbolic site — a place where action is needed, and where the seeds of transformation are ready to grow.

A Day of Purpose and Possibility

The event was not just a gathering — it was a message to every child present: “You matter. You belong. You are the future of Haiti.” The goal was clear: to help children understand their worth, their role in society, and their power as future leaders, entrepreneurs, and change agents.

Highlights of the Day

Throughout the day, 100 children engaged in a variety of enriching and joyful activities designed to build confidence, stimulate creativity, and promote community values:

Leadership and Personal Development Workshops
Children learned about responsibility, teamwork, and how to believe in their own potential.

Storytelling & Inspiration Circles
ONAJEU facilitators and local leaders shared stories of Haitian heroes and how young people have shaped the world. Creative Expression Time
Kids expressed their dreams through drawing, speaking, singing, and performing.

Games & Group Activities
Encouraging unity, trust, and fun among the children, regardless of background. Open Forum with Youth Voices
Children were invited to speak and share what they love about their community — and what they hope to change in the future.

A Community Transformed

By the end of the event, the shift in the children was visible: shyness gave way to pride, hesitation to boldness. The day helped spark something essential — hope, confidence, and the belief that change is possible.

Parents and community members also felt the impact. They saw the energy in their children and heard the clarity in their voices. It was a moment of collective recognition: our children are not just the future — they are the present.

What’s Next for ONAJEU?

The activity in Pignon is just one piece of a broader vision. ONAJEU is committed to : Expanding its youth programs throughout Haiti; Building leadership and entrepreneurial skills in young people

Promoting inclusion, education, health, and environmental awareness; Bridging gaps between youth and opportunity
