Europe’s talent must stay in Europe and find the opportunities to scale here. To make that happen, we need faster access to finance and fewer regulatory barriers.

The launch of EU–INC. and the proposed Scaleup Europe Fund are encouraging signs that Europe is serious about building the next generation of global champions.

This week, we are in Sierra Leone as part of the BIO-VET project, conducting a fact-finding mission together with a delegation of European agricultural and vocational education experts supported by the European Commission.

Over the past days, we have met with key decision-makers, TVET institutions, international development partners and sector experts to explore opportunities for cooperation and identify future development pathways for vocational education and skills development in the country.

Our programme has included meetings with Dr. Haja Ramatulai Wurie, Minister of Technical and Higher Education, representatives of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security, the European Union Delegation, GIZ and other stakeholders. We have also visited TVET institutions in both Freetown and Kambia Province to gain first-hand insights into local training needs and opportunities.

The mission is helping us identify concrete synergies between vocational education, agriculture and the bioeconomy, and how the BIO-VET project can contribute to strengthening skills development and employability in Sierra Leone.
