International Committee of Sports for the Deaf

31/05/2026

Yesterday, the world watched the UEFA Champions League Final at Puskás Aréna in Budapest. And while PSG vs. Arsenal was the headline — this is the part that matters to us.
The ball kids on that pitch weren't just any kids. They were deaf and hard of hearing children from the Ezüstcipő Football School, founded to give youth a real place in football.
Twelve deaf/hard of hearing Hungarian young footballers — eleven boys and one girl — stepped onto the pitch as the first ball kids with disabilities in football history.

We celebrate every moment deaf and hard of hearing athletes and young people are visible, because representation matters, in Deaf sports and beyond.

It is with deep sadness that the ICSD shares the passing of Jack Clark Lamberton, a true pillar of the Deaf Sports community, on May 1, 2026.

Jack served as President of USADSF (2009–2017), represented Team USA as Delegate or Team Leader at ten Deaflympics, and contributed to our movement as a member of the ICSD Executive Board serving as Vice President of Youth Sports (2017–2021). His passion, dedication, and leadership left a lasting mark on Deaf Sport worldwide.

We send our deepest condolences to his family and loved ones.
