Black Hand Gang Printmaking Studio presents 'Visages of Asia' a printmaking showcase. .id

The diversity that exists within Asia is a language that bridges this continent to the rest of the world, the language that we use to tell stories about histories collected from all around Asia, through an array of art prints highlighting elements of particularly Southeast Asian history.

This presentation showcases artworks done primarily by Black Hand Gang’s emerging studio artists who explored various printmaking techniques such as screen print, intaglio, cyanotype, and many more, to produce high-quality decorative art prints.

If you missed last night's opening, the showcase will continue until 17th April, presenting Asian-inpired prints in different explorations, techniques, and visual styles. Moreover, if you're a creative or a business interested in in-depth viewings and print project enquiries.

Vogue Philippines has just unveiled a 106-year-old tattoo artist, Apo Whang-Od as the cover star of its April issue, that makes her the oldest person ever to appear on the front page of Vogue. She has been described as a symbol of “the strength and beauty of the Filipino spirit”.

According to sources, as the country’s oldest mambabatok (traditional tattooist), she is best known for mastering the 1,000-year-old “shell” tattoo technique, which employs the traditional tapping method using charcoal soot and a sharp stick. The report even says that her work has inspired a new generation of Batok artists from the Philippines to the United States.

Before Whang-Od made her appearance on the cover of Vogue Philippines, actress Dame Judi Dench held the record for being the oldest Vogue cover model, she appeared on the cover of British Vogue in 2020 at age 85. Thoughts?

The collection itself was designed by graphic design studio, as part of the city image project for the West Tulang Bawang area, Lampung and marks the first shoe collection initiated by a region in Indonesia.
