It is with a heavy heart that I share that my grandmother, Joyce Thompson, passed away on April 6th. She always loved to hear my racing stories and had come to watch me race go karts, but sadly never made it to see me race cars. I witnessed how Alzheimer’s robbed her of many memories and even the most basic of skills. She was my inspiration to begin my annual Alzheimer’s fundraiser to build awareness, support programming, and fund critical research. My grandmother handled the losses from Alzheimer’s in a way that showed me how to deal with ups and downs. Now in my 5th year of fundraising, I am more determined than ever to raise funds.
