Which one of our new AMG models do you prefer?

The A 45 AMG and CLA 45 AMG offer a fascinatingly sporty driving experience, characterized by impressive craftsmanship and individuality. Both new four-cylinder models feature the hallmark AMG DNA. This is largely due to the fact that during design and development Mercedes-AMG experts were able to draw on their past experience in motorsport and the construction of powerful high-performance cars.

Last weekend the Red Bull Ring played host to the fifth round of the ADAC GT Masters race series 2012.

In the first run, two SLS AMG GT3 customer teams achieved top ten. HEICO Motorsport gained position seven (Proczyk/Baumann). MS Racing finished on position nine (Asch/Götz) and eleven (Stoll/Dobitsch).

The Schöner Wohnen Polarweiss Team HEICO came home on position twelve (Margaritis/Arnold).

The results on Sunday’s race are almost identical. Position seven: Margaritis/Arnold, position nine: Buhk/Simonsen (HEICO Junior Team) and position eleven: Götz/Asch.

Currently, team MS Racing is on position three in the overall team ranking!

Our second Ask AMG question comes from fan Chris McWilliams. Chris asked "What is the difference between a turbo and a naturally aspirated engine and why do some AMG models have naturally aspirated motors and some have turbos?"

Chris, thank you for your question! The difference is that the turbo uses the exhaust to compress the air. The compression of air results in the benefit of a better air-to-fuel ratio which increases the output. The responsiveness of a naturally aspirated engine is higher as the turbo(s) need a certain rpm to be effective. This phenomenon is known as turbo lag which is, simply put, reduced by usage of either multiple turbos (biturbo, triturbo) or different sized turbos.
