Thank God, Pak Slamet won first place in the Kalpataru Award in the Environmental Pioneer Category in Central Java.
Central Java is one of Indonesia’s thirty-eight provinces, located in the middle of Java Island, where our coffee grows 🌏

And Kalpataru, is a prestigious environmental award given annually by the Indonesian government to individuals and communities who have made a real impact on environmental restoration. In this case, no one did similar acts before that's why it is called pioneer 🌱🙏🏼

So, in the past few months, Pak Slamet and I have been occupied with the field verification processes for the award. We didn’t apply for this, but our local forestry department recognized Pak Slamet’s work in protecting the forest and nominated him.

Since 2007, Pak Slamet has been continuously planting endemic trees to protect the water springs in the forest while cultivating coffee—yes, the same coffee you can find in our place in Bandungan, and in Switzerland as it is imported directly by our best partner .cafe 🇮🇩🇨🇭

Just like the forest ecosystem where everything is so connected, this wonderful journey would not have happened without you. Yes, you. Thank you very much for giving us the energy to keep the connection from alive ❤

And a special thanks to and from Markawa. For no matter how far the distance, our partnership always gives us the extra strength to keep preserving our arts, culture, and nature through coffee while distributing more blessings to the farmers and other beings ☕

Keberadaan fumarol merupakan salah satu penanda adanya jejak aktivitas vulkanis di gunung api yang bertipe stratovolkano** ini. Gunung Ungaran sendiri termasuk gunung api tipe B yang artinya gunung api ini memiliki catatan sejarah letusan sebelum tahun 1600 M. Geser slidenya dan mari kita resapi suara Bumi yang menderu-deru 🌬

*Fumarol (n, geo) kawah lubang di daerah vulkanis yang mengeluarkan gas bercampur uap (KBBI, 2021)

**Stratovolkano (n) gunung berapi tinggi berupa lapisan-lapisan yang terdiri atas lapisan lava mengeras serta abu vulkanis (KBBI, 2021)

From coffee, we learn about the meaning of conservation and connection.
One of our coffee lovers once said that truly conservation starts within ourselves.
From coffee, we learn about nurturing connections with the self and with other beings.

It's about us, nature and The Creator.

From coffee, we learn about communication. Sometimes it is in silence and without words.
From coffee, we also learn about honesty and feeling enough. Somehow, feeling enough is priceless (for us).
And the coffee near these old temples reminds us of a piece of heaven on Earth.
