‘Red meat is bad’ 🫠

I’m glad we’ve got past this misconception for the most part.

A lot more people are becoming aware now that there are many different types of red meat.

And treating them all as equal is ignorant.

The problem is that a lot of the studies that demonise red meat as a cause for increases in cardiovascular risk do precisely this.

They group together things like bacon, salami, Beef, lamb, sausages and other processed red meats into one bracket and then create an association.

The problem is that quality beef isn’t close to being the same as processed pork for example. 

One is filled with all sorts of chemicals and nitrates.

And the other (Beef) is in many ways a super-food jam packed with highly bioavailable forms of nutrients like B12 and Zinc.

The vast majority of people would do very well to eat high quality beef each day.

But the same cannot be said for eating sausages and salami.

Me personally, I’ve eaten red meat in the form of beef most days for the past 5 or 6 years and yet maintain an optimal lipid panel.

Crazy eh? 😆
