Here’s a look at my therapy room.
When I was putting it together, I knew I didn’t want anything clinical or cold. Soft lighting, gentle tones and simple textures felt important, enough to give the space a calm, quieter feel without adding distraction.
Hopefully it’s a room that feels easy to be in.

December often feels louder and faster than we expect. The pace, the pressure, the expectations, the emotional pull of old memories, and the changes in routine can make the whole month feel heavier to carry.
If this time of year feels like a lot, it does not mean you are failing. It means you are responding to a season that brings a mix of demands and emotions for many people.
You are allowed to slow down, to simplify, and to choose what feels manageable for you. You are allowed to let go of what no longer fits and to give yourself permission to move through December in a way that protects your wellbeing.
You get to decide what is enough.

Self-harm is often misunderstood.
For many people, it develops as a way to cope with emotions that feel intense, overwhelming, or impossible to express. It can offer temporary relief, but it usually comes with shame, secrecy, or fear of judgment.
Understanding self-harm means looking beneath the behaviour and recognising the distress that sits underneath it. People who self-harm are not trying to cause problems. They are trying to cope.
Support can involve learning new ways to manage difficult feelings, building safer coping strategies, and having someone who can listen without panic or judgment. With the right understanding, people can and do find steadier ways to get through challenging moments.
If you or someone you care about is struggling with self-harm, help is available.

Winter can be a challenging time for many people. With financial pressures, family dynamics, darker days, and a general sense of overwhelm, it’s a season where emotional support can make a real difference.
To offer support during this time, I’m opening a small number of free, short-term counselling sessions for adults.
Sessions are offered in person, in Carrigaline only.
These sessions create space to explore:
• Seasonal stress
• Feeling overwhelmed or run down
• Anxiety or low mood
• Family or relationship tensions
• Everyday emotional strain
You can access up to 8 free sessions over the winter months.
Availability is limited.
If you’d like to express interest or ask any questions, you’re welcome to email me at [email protected].

Anxiety can shape how a teen moves through their day long before anyone notices it. Many young people learn very quickly which parts of themselves feel acceptable and which parts feel too much, so they adapt. They hide their stress, avoid showing uncertainty, or try to manage everything alone. This can leave them feeling isolated even when they are surrounded by people who care.
What supports them most is having adults who stay curious. Instead of assuming the meaning behind a behaviour, it helps to slow down and look at what might be happening underneath. A teen who shuts their door may be trying to regroup. A teen who seems irritable may be overwhelmed. A teen who looks like they have it all together might be carrying more than they can say out loud.
When adults respond with patience, softness, and a genuine wish to understand, teens feel safer to be honest about what they are going through. That sense of emotional safety can be the beginning of real change.
Imposter syndrome isn’t about lacking ability. It’s about finding it hard to believe in the abilities you already have.
It can grow from years of pressure, comparison, or high expectations, the sense that you have to earn your worth or hold everything together.
In my work at Mise Therapy, I often see how that quiet self-doubt can turn into overworking, perfectionism, or fear of being “found out.”
Understanding where those patterns began can help loosen their hold and make room for a steadier kind of self-trust.

There’s a kind of tired that sleep doesn’t fix.
The kind that makes even small things feel heavy.
Burnout isn’t about not coping, it’s your body’s way of saying this isn’t sustainable.
Therapy can help you understand what’s driving the exhaustion and find a way back to steadiness.

In therapy, there are often things happening beneath the surface that you might not notice yourself.
As therapists, we're trained to pay attention to the small details- body language, voice changes, recurring themes, even the things left unsaid.
Why does this matter? Because when patterns come into awareness, you’re no longer running on autopilot.
✨ You can spot the old stories that keep you stuck.
✨ You can see progress you might have missed.
✨ You can start making choices that feel more like you.
Awareness isn’t the whole journey, but it’s where real change begins.
