Medea Benjamin is an American political activist, co-founder of CODEPINK: Women for Peace, the author of 11 books, an advocate for social justice for more than 30 years, and she has just completed a speaking tour across Ireland. Throughout her tour, from Dublin, Belfast, Derry, to Shannon Airport, she has hosted events and public discussions on imperialism and global justice. Padraig Mannion of PANA thanked Medea for encouraging this need for anti-war activism and reminding us all that throughout the United States there are many thousands of similar activists, and movements like CODEPINK, Veterans for Peace, Black Alliance for Peace, and World Beyond War, all playing an active part in this struggle.

On Saturday 4th July President Donald Trump delivered an address for the US 250th anniversary on the National Mall that intentionally focused on national pride, avoiding mentions of historical injustices like slavery, the displacement/genocide of Native Americans, imperialist wars and the devastation caused by economic sanctions. Many protests were organised on this day to highlight these issues, and we report on a protest that was held outside the US Embassy in Dublin, as trade unions, solidarity groups and sympathetic political organisations rallied behind the demands of the Cuban people for peace, independence, and prosperity. Medea attended the peace camp held last weekend at Shannon Airport. Throughout the weekend the names of children were read out by peace activists from the list of 18,500 children published in late July last year.
According to Edward Horgan of Shannonwatch, over the past 10 days at least 20 aircraft associated with the US military passed through Shannon airport and Irish airspace on their way to and from the Middle East and Europe. At least two of these were making deliveries of US troops or military materials directly to Israel

The government decision on abolishing The Triple Lock mechanism has been postponed until the Autumn following a co-ordinated campaign by Willie O’Dea, the veteran Limerick TD, highlighting the scale of Fianna Fail backbench unease over plans to remove the requirement for UN security council approval before sending Irish troops on overseas missions…so why are they 'kicking the can down the road.'
Next Wednesday 1st July, the eyes of Europe will fall on this great loyal European leader, Taoiseach Micheál Martin as the State assumes the Presidency of the European Union. So, when you want to portray yourself as this great noble leader there is nothing as upsetting as being exposed by opposition protests. Please support the first of many, at the Central Plaza, Dame Street, Dublin next Wednesday from 1pm. See Poster below.
Ireland’s 2026 EU Presidency objectives are not a roadmap for a better Europe; they are a PR exercise designed to normalise the unacceptable. "Unity is strength" sounds noble, but in the context of the modern EU, it demands uncritical conformity to a centralised federation that wages proxy wars, funds human rights abuses, and strips citizens of democratic agency. The Government will unlikely seek to ruffle any EU feathers in the coming months preferring to act as a compliant manager of a deeply flawed, increasingly authoritarian, and morally bankrupt empire… https://www.facebook.com/peoplesmovementireland/

📢 PUBLIC MEETING: Defend Irish Neutrality
The government wants to remove the Triple Lock, Ireland's key protection against being dragged into foreign wars without UN authorisation. Without it, Irish missions abroad cease to be peacekeeping. They become peace enforcement, with Irish soldiers taking sides in conflicts rather than separating parties to them. What is the Triple Lock? What does its removal mean for Irish neutrality and peacekeeping? And what can we in Tipperary do to defend it? Come hear from our speakers and have your say.

📅 Monday 13th July, 7:30pm
📍 Raheen House Hotel, Clonmel (E91 AC82)

🎙️ Speakers include:

Edward Horgan, Shannonwatch (Headline Speaker)
Séamus Healy TD (Workers & Unemployed Action)
Kathleen Funchion MEP (Sinn Féin)
..and others to be announced!

All welcome. Free entry.
