Major DIFE expansion plan moves to tender stage

Plans for a major expansion of Drogheda Institute of Further Education (DIFE) have moved a step closer, with approval now granted for a significant capital project to proceed to tender.
Announced by Minister for Further and Higher Education, Research, Innovation and Science James Lawless TD, the DIFE project forms part of the Further Education and Training Strategic Infrastructure Upgrade Programme (SIUP).

This proposal will extend the capacity at DIFE through the development of a new flexible multi-purpose-built tertiary education facility aimed at increasing capacity for students in Drogheda and the wider region.

When completed, the development will provide additional training spaces for dental nursing and pharmacy technician courses, as well as computer rooms, changing rooms and other facilities, including community-accessible spaces.

Minister Lawless said he was delighted to see the project move forward and said he hoped construction would begin on site as soon as possible.
