The latest Roads Policing statistics show a deeply concerning picture on Irish roads this year:

🚶 Pedestrians: 42
🚗 Drivers: 70
👥 Passengers: 20
🛴 E-Scooter users: 2
🏍️ Motorcyclists: 30
🚴 Pedal cyclists: 14
👤 Pillion passengers / Other: 1

➡️ Total fatalities year-to-date: 179
➡️ +15 deaths compared with 2024 (164 to the same date)

📈 Collisions comparison:
• 2025: 168
• 2024: 151

Every statistic represents a person who did not make it home — and families and communities left grieving. Vulnerable road users continue to account for a significant proportion of deaths, underlining the urgent need for safer speeds, safer vehicles, and safer infrastructure.

IRVA continues to call for urgent, evidence-based action to protect all road users.
