This could change everything…

Richard Morrissey Senior, father of NeoGym Co Founder Richard Morrissey, has been a guiding force behind our coaching programmes for years.

What began as a simple decision to improve his own health in mid life, became a life long passion.
He has since completed hundreds of marathons, ultra distance races including 50 miles and the infamous Centurion 100 mile cross country, and has won his age category in countless races time and time again.
He has coached people spanning almost four decades to improve their health and fitness, while guiding high level athletes in achieving personal bests.

Now approaching 80, leading by example, he trains in the gym a few times per week, regularly runs and enjoys hill walking.
Widely respected in the space of functional longevity, he continues to inspire those around him.

Functional longevity is not just about living longer.
It is about living stronger, staying capable, independent, and fully engaged in life.

His advice is as follows:

“Understand the word, sarcopenia.
Age related muscle loss is one of the greatest threats to quality of life and the decline can start as early as 30.
The solution is clear. Build and maintain muscle!
Lift weights consistently!
Don’t ever give me the excuse of age, don’t hide behind your boring story.
No matter when you were born, lean into discomfort.
Comfort is the vehicle that guarantees you slow down and fade away.
Resistance is what creates the demand for your muscle and bone, use it or lose it.
Fuel your body with adequate protein and prioritise rest, recovery and peace of mind.
It’s not about how you look, it’s about how you lift, it’s about how you live.
Fade away, or embrace functional longevity. You don’t get both.
A far stronger, more functional and capable life awaits, which life will you choose?”

Be sure to like, follow and share with those who need to hear this.

Since NeoGym opened its doors over 12 years ago, we’ve had the privilege of witnessing countless success stories.

But some stories stay with you.
Gillian Barker’s is one of them.
She joined us with the goal of losing weight.
What followed, can only be described as, inspiring!

Through consistency, commitment, and the right support, Gillian rewrote her own story, she not only lost weight, but also went on to become our number one personal trainer.

She understands the journey our members are on, in such a unique way, recognising that each session is just as much about the psychological experience as it is the physical.
When we consider the world of personal trainers and health coaches, Gillian stands in a league of her own.

As you watch the video and hear her story in her own words, you realise what she achieved goes far beyond weight loss.
She rebuilt her confidence, developed strong habits, and became a powerful example of what is possible when you put your mind to it.
Today, we regularly hear from members about the positive impact she has on their lives.

At NeoGym, we believe a weight loss goal should never be just about weight loss.
It’s not about becoming less. It’s about becoming more.
Stronger in muscle and bone, more confident, more in control, and more aligned with the person you really are.
It’s about accepting the body you have, while simultaneously developing an intolerance to unhealthy behaviours, along with a plan and structure that builds healthy habits.

Gillians success isn’t measured by what she lost, but by what she built and by the hundreds of success stories she has helped create through her passion for helping others.

We all have a choice.
To be shaped by the story life has given us, or to take control and write our own.
So the question is, what will you write?

Get in touch today if you would like Gillian and the Neo team to help you create your new story.
