📢 One of the key asks in our Budget 2027 Submission - Our Rights, Our Voices is to invest in timely and accessible supports.
Support should be available when people need it - not months or years later.
Too many adutls and children with intellectual disabilities and their families are left waiting for the therapies, services and supports they need to live healthy, fulfilling lives.
That's why we're calling on Government to:
✔ Make access to therapy a statutory entitlement, alongside the right to an Assessment of Need.
✔ Build on the 150 new Family Support Worker posts by investing in family supports across every Children's Disability Network Team.
✔ Fully resource CAMHS-ID, with 16 specialist teams, each staffed to the HSE standard.
✔ Invest in independent advocacy, community-based short breaks and accessible information for families.
✔ Roll out the Single Point of Access across all Children's Disability Network Teams to help families access the support they need more quickly.
Timely support changes lives. Budget 2027 is an opportunity to ensure children, adults and families get the right support, at the right time.

Today, TDs have an opportunity to stand behind a simple but fundamental principle: every person has the right to live in their own community.
At Inclusion Ireland, we welcome Liam Quaide TD's motion and hope it receives support from across the Dáil.
The right to belong in your local community is a human right. People with intellectual disabilities should have real choice and control over where they live, who they live with, who supports them, and how they live their lives.
Our colleague Paul knows how important this is. Having lived in an institution, he experienced first-hand what it is like when other people make decisions about your life. Today, he is passionate about ensuring that no one else has to experience the loss of freedom and choice that he did.
Paul believes everyone should have the opportunity to have a home of their own, choose the people who support them, and be part of their local community. He is deeply concerned that some people are still living far from their families and communities without real choice, and that there are growing calls internationally to return to institutional models of care.
Everyone, regardless of the level of support they need, has the right to live in their community, close to the people and places that matter to them, with their will and preferences at the centre of every decision.
We urge TDs from all parties to support this motion and reaffirm Ireland's commitment to community living, inclusion, and the rights of people with intellectual disabilities.

🏠 One of the key asks in Inclusion Ireland's Budget 2027 Submission is investment in homes and supported independent living for people with intellectual disabilities.
A home is about more than four walls. It's about belonging.
People with intellectual disabilities should have the same choice as everyone else to live:
💚 Close to family and friends
💚 In their own local community
💚 With the people they choose
💚 With the right support to live independently
Budget 2027 must invest in housing and supported living that puts people's rights, choices and preferences at the centre.
We're calling on Government to:
➡️Fund 300 planned support packages
➡️Set housing targets for people with intellectual disabilities in every local authority
➡️Invest in community-based housing and supports
➡️End institutional living by supporting people to move from congregated settings and inappropriate nursing homes into homes of their own.
🏡All housing should be designed with the person's will and preferences at centre and this takes proper planning.

📢 Today we are launching Inclusion Ireland's Budget 2027 Submission.
Our Rights, Our Voices.
More than 1,500 people with intellectual disabilities and their families and supporters told us about the barriers they face every day.
Their message is clear.
Government must invest in:
🏠 Housing and supported living
💶 Tackling the cost of disability
👨👩👧 Supports for children and families
🎓 Inclusive education
Our submission includes practical, achievable recommendations that will help ensure people with intellectual disabilities can live independently, access the supports they need, participate fully in their communities and enjoy the same rights and opportunities as everyone else.
