Great to have our full Beaver Scout attendance for this activity !
They built a full size replica in sand, of the 15 metre long, 4,500 year old oak canoe that’s in the National Museum. It’s of the time of the earliest Crannógs. And the Crannóg is the theme for Beaver Scouts all over Ireland.
Then we “rowed” to our campfire! 🔥
And toasted marshmallows for our s’mores! 😋
Beaver overnight camp !
What a brilliant night was had be all; they pirated, treasure hunted, hiked, cooked s’mores, sang, laughed and minded each other, a very successful first overnight this year!
Thanks to all the beavers parents and scouters for making it all happen and run so well.

Best of Luck to Damien Furlong , one of our semi retired leaders, on his round Ireland kayaking trip!
His plan !
My trip will start in Howth, and take me 1450 Km around the Irish coastline. Along the way I’ll have to negotiate the notorious West Coast, and headlands with charming names such as “Mizen Head” and “Bloody Foreland”. I plan to start in the last week of May, if I get a good “weather window”, and finish in approximately 6 weeks. I’ll post updates of my progress here
