Politics is not just about smiles, handshakes, and election promises.

As voters, we need to look deeper.

When politicians say:
“We didn’t vote for rent increases”
ask yourself:
Did they vote for the budget?
Did their party support the policy?
Did they challenge it publicly before the backlash started?

Too often, political debates rely on technical wording, half-truths, and carefully managed messaging. The public deserves better than spin and gaslighting.

Before the by-election, don’t just look at the individual candidate standing at your door.
Look at:
• the party they represent
• how that party voted in council meetings
• how they voted in the Dáil
• whether they supported policies that increased pressure on working people, renters, families, and those already struggling

Because sometimes the biggest political tricks are not outright lies; they are the small pieces of wording and “sleight of hand” used to avoid responsibility.

Democracy only works when voters stay informed.

Don’t vote based on slogans.
Vote based on actions, records, and results.
