In the sweetness of friendship let there be laughter, and sharing of pleasures. For in the dew of little things the heart finds its morning and is refreshed.
Khalil Gibran
Today I found myself getting anxious, stressed, worried and thoughts turning negative and sometimes angry. When I realised that my negative thoughts were causing this I made a conscious decision to flip this. instead I turned my thoughts to what I was grateful for..I.m healthy, all the people I love and cherish are healthy and I have a job that enabled me to help some people today...then I went on a walk tonight .. positive thoughts have changed how I feel now..blessed , accepting, and relaxed. It's hard sometimes to make the choice to challenge out thoughts and take control of our thinking- to stop the worrying, stop the resentments, stop going over out hurts, fears, situations and insecurities..but it can be done .awareness is the first step and choice is our second. Try writing down 3 things you are grateful for...even the littlest thing like being able to make a cup of tea!! Mind yourselves and mind your mind. Talbot counselling.

How to cope with Social Distancing, self-isolation and quarantine
We have all been asked to take extraordinary new steps and change the way we live, work and socialise in Ireland in order to win the battle with Covid-19 and to keep us safe.
I am so aware of the emotional impact this may have on us. We hear frightening reports on TV and social media and its hard to get away from it all.
My advice is to limit your time checking for updates. Limit social media use. Instead set a time to look for updates etc. i.e. 9am 1pm 6pm
Distract yourself from focusing on Covid-19 through other useful use of your time, work, reading, music, exercise, tv, cooking, baking, Listen or look to comedy or something you know will lift your spirit and shift the focus from worry to relax..
I read a report from a lady in Italy who said she passed the time cooking meals she never had the time to do... baking the bread and reading the books she just never got around to in her pre lockdown life....She discovered inner strengths , peace and serenity in the simple pleasures of life ........ the ones she never had the time to do when she was so busy working.
If you are feeling anxious about any of this try taking a few deep breaths. In for 5 seconds, hold for 5 seconds and out for 7 seconds. This breaks the brain/thought link and instructs your body to relax,,,, there is no danger.
Stay Safe -Mind your emotional well being - DO SOMETHING NICE FOR YOURSELF NOW . Call me for phone counselling to talk through any fears or anxieties you may be having.
