✨This year we’re celebrating 40 years of Music Network, and to mark the occasion, we’ve been catching up with some of the wonderful musicians who have been part of our programmes over the years, to talk about their own musical journeys and why they play.
🎼We sat down with singer-songwriter Niall McCabe (), to chat about why he plays music. Niall toured with Nollaig Casey and Mike McGoldrick as part of a Music Network tour in September 2024 and is also a Music Capital Scheme awardee.

🎹 A special moment last Sunday at Siamsa Tíre as its historic Steinway grand piano returned to the stage following a major refurbishment, supported through our Music Capital Scheme Piano Award.
The instrument made its debut at a concert by internationally acclaimed pianist and composer Shuteen Erdenebaatar as part of our June tour.
The Steinway Model C grand piano was originally acquired by founder Fr. Pat Ahern and has played a central role in the artistic life of the venue for decades, featuring in countless performances. Its restoration marks a significant milestone for Siamsa Tíre, ensuring that one of its most valued artistic assets can continue to serve performers and audiences for generations to come.
Last year Siamsa Tíre were awarded €29,400 through the Music Capital Scheme Piano Award to support the refurbishment. Funded by the Department of Culture, Communications and Sport and managed by Music Network, the award supports the purchase and restoration of concert standard grand pianos for arts venues and music presenters across Ireland.
