Being a woman is not a hashtag. It’s the headline.

International Women’s Day.

This year I notice something. I don’t see many posts proudly celebrating women. I don’t see women being described, highlighted, lifted. I don’t see the pride written out loud. Instead, it feels like it’s been tucked into a hashtag, when it should be the headline.

Today is a day to praise women. A day to stand proud and say it clearly: we are women.

Be proud of being born a woman. Be proud of living as a woman. Celebrate it. Enjoy it. Rejoice in it.

Mother’s Day is close in date, and that is a beautiful, tender celebration in its own right. But it is not the same day, and it is not the same meaning.

Today is about women. All women.

So let it be loud. Let it be proud.Chosen by God to be women and grateful to live it every day.
