Last week members of Corrib Mask Search and Rescue had the privilege of visiting our colleagues at Westport Coast Guard station and conducting a joint training exercise.
This was a great opportunity for all crew members to get to know each other as quite often we can be called to assist at the same incidents.
We launched 2 of our boats alongside the Coast Guards boats and got to experience launching in sea conditions, navigating areas of clew bay and towing & tranfer operations.
We thank all at Westport Coast Guard station for their hospitality, it was a productive evening and we look forward to more training sessions like this in the future which will benefit both units should we ever need to assist each other on callouts π

*** CALLOUT***
Corrib Mask Search and Rescue were tasked by the Irish Coast Guard to an incident on Lough Corrib last night.
A person was reported missing after not returning from a fishing trip. Our crew launched from Lisloughrey pier to commence a search, Rescue 115 were also tasked to the area. The Coast Guard called off the search during the night as weather conditions and visibility worsened.
Our teams launched again this morning at first light to recommence the search. Just after we headed out, the person was found safe by local fishermen.
We thank everyone involved for contributing to this excellent outcome.
We especially thank our own volunteers for a great response yesterday evening and again at first light this morning, your dedication is greatly appreciated always π
As always we remind people when out on the water think safety...let someone know where you are going and roughly when you plan to be back and always carry a means of calling for help with you.
Call 999/112 and ask for The Coast Guard who will dispatch the necessary services to help you.
