The Weapon Our Lady Gave St. Dominic

According to the tradition recounted by St. Louis de Montfort, the Rosary in its present form was given to the Church through St. Dominic in the year 1214.

While struggling to convert the Albigensians, St. Dominic withdrew into a forest near Toulouse. There he prayed, wept, and did penance for three days and three nights, begging God for the conversion of hardened hearts.

Then Our Lady appeared to him with three angels and told him that the weapon God wanted to use to reform the world was the Angelic Psalter, the prayer we now know as the Holy Rosary.

Her message was clear: if Dominic wanted to bring souls back to God, he must preach her Psalter.

The Rosary is not just a devotion we hold in our hands. It is a Gospel prayer, a call to repentance, and a remedy for hearts grown cold.
