Today in 1906.. "The Munster Connacht Exhibition 1906". Souvenir of the Opening Day; Supplement to the "Limerick Chronicle" July 10th 1906. Includes a photo of the Directors and Officials.

King Philip V of Spain died on this day, 9 July 1746. Limerick-born John Higgins held the post of Chief Physician to the King from 1713 until Higgins' death in 1729. In 1724 James III made John Higgins a Knight and Baronet for his services to France.
