🍋🍈 Fresh Lemonade Fun! 🍈🍋

Today our children had a fantastic time making their own fresh lemonade using real lemons and limes! It was a fun, hands-on activity that encouraged learning through play.

As they squeezed, mixed, stirred and tasted, the children explored:
🍋 Different textures, smells and flavours.
🧠 Early maths skills by measuring and counting ingredients.
💪 Fine motor skills through squeezing and pouring.
💬 Language development by describing what they could see, smell and taste.
🤝 Teamwork, turn-taking and sharing.
🌱 Where fruit comes from and the importance of making healthy food and drink choices.

There were lots of smiles (and a few funny faces from the sour lemons! 😄), making it a wonderful sensory experience and a refreshing treat to enjoy together.

Learning really is everywhere! 💛

Free to take away, 6 months old. To big for babyroom

Parents, due to the forecasted temperature reaching 30° tomorrow, and in the interest of the health, safety and wellbeing of the children in our care, the service will close tomorrow at 1pm.
Despite our best efforts to keep the rooms cool, temperatures within the building are expected to become uncomfortably high for the children throughout the afternoon.
We appreciate that this might cause some inconvenience, however the safety and welfare of the children must remain our priority.
The service will return to normal opening hours Friday.

Limerick Social Service Centre Receives Toy Show Magic

Limerick Social Service Centre is one of over 170 organisations benefiting from the latest round of RTÉ Toy Show Grants, made possible by the generosity inspired by the annual television spectacle. The announcement of grants on 23rd June 2026 was made by Community Foundation Ireland, which works to turn donations from viewers into action on the ground benefiting children and their families.

LSSC is receiving support of €40,000 towards Nurturing Healthy Futures: The LSSC Early Years and Family Support Service kitchen upgrade.

Trish Davoren, Practice Development Coordinator, welcoming the grant, said:

"This funding is a significant step forward for Limerick Social Service Centre and the families we support. The kitchen upgrade will help us provide vulnerable children in our community with nutritious, culturally appropriate meals and strengthen our early years and family support services."

Denise Charlton, Chief Executive of Community Foundation Ireland, added:

"Being entrusted to turn the €4.3 million provided by generous RTÉ viewers into actions which deliver benefits for children across Ireland is both a huge honour and responsibility. The Foundation uses insights and knowledge from community partners across the country, best-in-class research and the insights of top child advocates to inform our decisions. The result is another year when children in every part of our country will benefit.
