1. Keep the routine. Dinner at the same time. Breakfast the same way. For a student dealing with a new language, and a new city, a predictable home is exactly what they need.

2. Ask what they don't eat before you plan a single meal. Not what they like. What they will not touch. One question on day one saves weeks of awkward dinners.

3. Put the house information in a photo frame on their bedside table. Wi-Fi password, your number, the bus route, the address. They photograph it on arrival and never have to ask again.
