Sono stata coinvolta in questa bellissima iniziativa chiamata "la memoria del bene".
In cosa consiste:
Il 27 gennaio di ogni anno celebriamo la "giornata della memoria" , ricorrenza che giustamente vuole incidere nella memoria di tutti I tragici eventi della Shoah, ma proprio nei momenti piu' difficili si svelano I lati migliori di alcune persone, grazie alle quali molti di noi sono ancora qui.
A Brindisi, vicino al porto turistico c'e' una zona semiabbandonata con una bellissima storia da raccontare; io ho la fortuna e l'onore, di prendere parte a questa splendida iniziativa.
I padiglioni di Bocca di Puglia nel corso degli anni hanno accolto profughi provenienti da diverse parti del mondo, e, con il passaggio dalla fuga all'accoglienza, questo luogo ha rappresentato per loro l'inizio di una nuova vita.
I padiglioni di accoglienza, sono oggi in uno stato di abbandono, l'idea di progetto e' quella di realizzare uno spazio polifunzionale nel quale, al di la' delle diverse destinazioni d'uso, i muri possano "raccontare" quello che hanno visto nel corso degli anni in maniera discreta e non "invasiva".
L'occhio dell'osservatore si imbattera' quasi per sbaglio nelle foto, ritagli di giornale, proiezioni di testimonianze, etc, ne stimolera' la curiosita' ed il desiderio di approfondire. Cosicche' visitatore sara' compiaciuto non solo dal fatto di trovarsi in un luogo bellissimo per le sue caratteristiche fisiche e geografiche, ma anche e soprattutto, per le qualita' umane che esso rappresenta.
Piccolo inciso: I miei genitori, nati in paesi e periodi storici diversi, sono entrambi stati cacciati dal loro paese natio in quanto ebrei. Entrambi, pero', hanno incontrato persone coraggiose e sensibili che li hanno aiutati a superare questo difficile momento. Credo sia di fondamentale importanza dare valore a luoghi e persone della memoria del bene e sono fiera di prendere parte a questo progetto.

I have gladly get involved in this beautiful initiative, titled "The memory of Good”: this what it is all about.
Every year, the 27th of January, we celebrate the Holocaust Memorial Day, devoted to engraving in everyone’s memory the tragic events of Shoah. And yet, it is precisely in the darkest moments that some people reveal their best sides, thanks to which most of us are still alive.
In Brindisi, close to the tourist harbor, a semi-abandoned area has an amazing story to tell. Making this story known is something I feel fortunate and privileged to commit myself with.
During many years, Bocca di Puglia’s pavilions welcomed refugees coming from different parts of the world; turning from escape to hospitality, this place provided a new beginning in refugees’ lives.
Nowadays, the welcome pavilions lay in an abandoned state: the project idea is to create a multifunctional space where, beyond the intended uses, the actual walls can tell us what they had been seeing through the years, though in a discreet and nonintrusive way. The observer’s eye, almost by accident, will come across pictures, newspapers clippings, testimonies’ screenings et cetera, raising up curiosity and wish of learning more about. This way, the visitor will not only be pleased for being in a lovely spot for its physical and geographical characteristics, but also and above all for its human qualities.

A small aside: my parents, born in different countries and times, had been both expelled from their native countries as Jews. Both, however, met brave and sensitive people who helped them get through those hard times. I believe it is vital to give value to places and people connected with the memory of Good: therefore, I am proud to participate in this project.

Main entrance design studies.

When I was working in Paris, my boss used to tell me that in architecture we proceed as a spiral goes. We start with the macro scale and we get closer to the final details.

We planned a new residential building, now it's time to go deeper and define all its areas.
Designing the main entrance area must be very accurate. This area gives us the first impression, very often we will keep this feeling in judging the whole location.
Therefore the choice of materials, lights, and colors is fundamental. Few examples: the wood conveys coziness, the metal conveys modernity; the lighting if indirect, reflected, and diffused will give a feeling of calm and serenity.
I like to play with extremes: cold/hot, modern/classic, rough/smooth; as long as these elements combine harmonically.
That's what I'm checking out with these sketches.
