Today is World Cord Blood Day, a day to raise awareness of umbilical cord blood, a potent source of stem cells for transplant, a starting material for valuable cell therapies, and a potential cure for certain blood cancers.
Saving cord blood and researching therapies derived from its stem cells has the potential to offer a second chance at life.
