Today I accompanied a client on a tour of St. Joseph's Hospital in Jerusalem. It was a very special experience for two reasons. Firstly, this unique hospital has a great reputation as a small but fully equipped maternity unit, with all the facilities and professional staff necessary for a safe and comfortable birth.
The labor unit has a ratio of 4 midwives to 5 rooms. They facilitate and support you in any birth you choose, from water births to epidural births to c-sections (when necessary). Every room is equipped with a private shower and toilet. Laboring moms can use a wireless monitor, allowing freedom of movement as labor proceeds. The hospital has a calm, quiet and professional feel and is a popular choice for expectant mothers who want to give birth in a comfortable atmosphere with a lot of personal and professional support.

The second reason that the visit to St. Joseph's was special was that we had the opportunity to meet Sister Valentina, the head midwife there. She is well known all over Israel for her warm and generous personality. She has such a great energy to her. She has a well-deserved reputation as being calm, professional, welcoming, respectful and accommodating to all her patients without reserve. I really enjoyed this tour and look forward to accompanying women during their births at St. Joseph's.
