Our Story

טרמינל הנו כתב עת דו לשוני לאמנות המאה ה-21 הרואה אור מאז ינואר 1996 וחותר לשמש מקור מידע עדכני על המתרחש בשדה האמנות בארץ ובעולם. כתב העת מציע סיקור שוטף על תערוכות ואירועים ייחודים בשדה האמנות המקומי והבין לאומי, חשיפה לאמנים ישראלים צעירים ובוגרים במסגרת המדורים- במה, דפי אמן, אמנים כותבים, ביקור סטודיו, אדריכלות, מוזיאונים חדשים ומתחדשים. טרמינל מאפשר הצצה על הנעשה בתוך כותלי הסטודיו של אמנים אנונימיים לחלוטין וכן אמנים יידועי שם ובמרכז השיח האמנותי. טרמינל בהיותו כתב עת דו לשוני (עברית- אנגלית), הנו היחיד בעולם המהווה במה לקידום אמנות ישראלית בארץ בחו"ל.

טרמינל זכה בהוקרה של טובי המוזיאונים בעולם, הסימן הברור לכך הוא בחירתו בשנת 2000 להיות מוצג בתערוכה בין לאומית בטוקיו בחברה אליטיסטית של 20 מטובי כתבי העת לאמנות בעולם. כמו כן, זכה טרמינל בשנת 2004 בפרס העיצוב מטעם אגודת המעצבים בישראל.

טרמינל יוצא לאור 3 פעמים בשנה ונשלח לתפוצת מנויים פרטיים ולספריות של מוזיאונים לאמנות בארץ ובחו"ל. ביניהם מוזיאון לאמנות מודרנית בניו יורק ה- MOMA, מוזיאון Watari-Um בטוקיו ובמוזיאונים לאמנות ברחבי ארצות הברית ואירופה. כמו כן, בספריות של האוניברסיטאות: Yale, Harvard, Princeton ובספריה העירונית ניו יורק.

לקוראי טרמינל מזומנת חוויה של התבוננות במרחב ויזואלי של דימויים, ממנו ניתן ללמוד על תמונת מצב עדכנית של אירועי תרבות ואמנות המתרחשים בעולם. רחל סוקמן, עורכת ומייסדת כתב העת, רואה ב'טרמינל' חלל תצוגה וירטואלי החותר לרקום ולקדם דו-שיח בין האמנות הישראלית לאמנות הבינלאומית.

Terminal is a bi-lingual (Hebrew-English) review of 21st century art. Published regularly since January 1996, it strives to be an up to date source of information about events and occurrences in the local and international art scenes. Terminal provides reviews of unique exhibitions, art events, and artistic phenomena in Israel and the world over, alongside exposure of young as well as seasoned Israeli artists, as part of the columns Stage, Artist's Pages, Artists Writing, Studio Visit, Architecture, New/Renewing Museums, etc. Terminal offers a glimpse into the goings-on inside the studios of anonymous as well as renowned, leading artists. As a bi-lingual publication, it is the only magazine in the world to furnish a platform for the advancement of Israeli art overseas.

Terminal has earned the recognition of the best museums worldwide. In 2000 it was selected to be featured in an international exhibition in Tokyo alongside the top twenty art reviews in the world. In 2004 it won the annual prize for design awarded by the Israel Association of Designers.

Terminal comes out three times a year. It is sent to private subscribers and to the libraries of art museums in Israel and abroad, including the MoMA, New York; Watari-Um Museum of Contemporary Art, Tokyo; and other museums in the United States and Europe. It is also included in the catalogues of academic libraries, e.g. Princeton, Harvard, and Yale, as well as New York's Public Library.

Terminal readers can plunge into a visual realm of images, keeping up to speed with the art and culture events occurring worldwide. Founder and Editor in Chief Rachel Sukman regards the magazine as a virtual exhibition space, a venue that strives to create and promote a dialogue between Israeli art and international art.
