3 out of 4 students who are getting admissions into premier institutes in India are coming from cities. Only 10% of the students qualified for admission into IITs/NITs/IIITs are coming from agriculture background.
52% who passed IIT-JEE relied on self-study, 75% from cities - Times of India The trends from this year’s JEE (advanced) were analysed by IIT-Guwahati. A detailed analysis of this year’s JEE (advanced) shows that IITs are still urban-centric with 75% of successful students coming from cities and the rest from rural areas.
